This course is designed as a follow up to Web Publishing HTML Basics. Organizing Web Documents and Site Design Going from a single page to a complex website involves planning. We'll talk about concepts of overall site design. "Storyboarding" is a concept used to design a comprehensive Web site. Once you've thought about the elements of good web design you need to create templates to support your storyboard design. The top ten tips that follow are simple guidelines to help you think about various elements of good web site design. Meta tags and preparing for search engine registration. If you want to be found by folks using search engines, prepare your site carefully before you submit it to a search engine. Advanced HTML Features beyond HTML Programming, Scripting, and beyond. Understanding graphics issues involves more than just adding graphics to you web site, but also how to use and edit graphics in a web efficient manner. Programming classes for writing in CGI and JAVA exist, but this is a class in using advanced HTML features, not programming. CGI scripts and JAVA applets that are ready to use can be found through out the web. At this level your goal should be to understand the uses of programming languages, and integrating "ready to use" applets and scripts in your web site The nature of the Internet is defined as being transactional, the reason being that there are several events that happen in the process of using the Internet that are transactional in nature. Examples of transactions would be logging onto a Web site, purchases via the Internet, and when a server on the Web fulfills a request. The Internet is also capable of what is termed as one-to-one relationships. For example a Web site can be designed to meet the needs and interests of a specific group. The nature of the Web is not passive, as being passive would by definition mean not to take an active part. The nature of the Internet is interactive.
